The complementary services will further strengthen their customers’ security posture as part of a robust defense in depth strategy
Ottawa, Canada, April 13, 2023 — CYDEF is pleased to announce its partnership with Click Armor, the first fully gamified security awareness training and engagement platform. Based in Ottawa, Canada, Click Armor was founded in 2021 with the aim of improving security awareness training outcomes.
Click Armor helps organizations of all sizes battle cyber and compliance risks by using gamified simulations and challenges to engage end-users to avoid breaches and build a strong security culture.
CYDEF, also headquartered in Ottawa, offers a one-of-a-kind endpoint security solution based on exception management instead of threat scoring. By baselining what is considered ‘normal’ behavior on endpoints, analysts can detect threats more effectively than the industry standard.
Pairing the two services provides a powerful balance of proactive, active, and responsive security services.
“Over the years, I found security awareness training programs to be boring, which negatively impacts retention,” said Scott Wright, CEO of Click Armor, and a 20-year veteran cybersecurity coach and consultant. “And what’s worse, shaming or embarrassing staff for being human serves only to build distrust and resentment within a team. I knew there had to be a better way.”
We learned from extensive observations and research that security awareness training actually requires a different approach for delivery than standard learning management systems.
When done properly, combining gamification strategies with education can yield powerful results. One of the most well-known examples of gamified learning is Duolingo, a mobile app that allows you to learn just about any language in a few minutes a day. With 37 million active users, it’s difficult to argue with the premise that gaming and learning go hand in hand.
“But having fun while you learn definitely reduces barriers, which in turn increases awareness and reduces cyber attacks,” said Wright. “Everybody wins.”
While speaking at an event last year, Wright was introduced to another speaker, Ameen Sait, the Chief Revenue Officer at CYDEF. The two hit it off and realized very quickly that a partnership would be mutually beneficial for their respective customers.
“I knew Scott had something special,” said Sait, a former ‘IBMer’ who has been in cyber security for over 30 years. “We have a shared vision and working with an organization that, like CYDEF, has taken a very different approach to get results just made sense for us.”
“CYDEF’s solution is so logical and simple,” said Wright. “They have not only found a more efficient method of detecting cyber threats, they’ve done it in a way that requires fewer resources and achieves better outcomes.”
With two US patents under their belt and recently becoming a Qualified Respondent under the Canadian Government’s Cyber Security Procurement Vehicle (CSPV), CYDEF now has partners in ten countries, on five continents.
Having recently surpassed 15,000 endpoints in their protection, CYDEF is poised to triple its growth in 2023. They serve customers in a wide variety of industries, from government and banking, to manufacturing, education, and retail.
“Every business connected to the Internet needs cyber awareness training. But this partnership can help our customers in other ways, as well,” added Elana Graham, Chief Operating Officer at CYDEF. “It may be possible to reduce their cyber insurance premiums by using one or both services.”
